NAAC  Reaccredited B Grade College

The establishment of the Government College Manimalakunnu in 1981 is the outcome of the relentless efforts of Rural Education Society (RES), a Charitable Society formed by the people in the Thirumaradi-Manimalakunnu area. Sri. M.J. Jacob Muttappillil, Ex. MLA and Late Sri. T.M. Jacob, former minister for Education were the founding leaders of the society.

The college was started as a Junior College comprising of Pre Degree Batches. At the outset, the college was affiliated to the University of Kerala and now it is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The college currently offers 6 UG Programmes, 3 PG programmes and Ph.D. programme in Chemistry and caters to the Arts and Science educational aspirations of the poor students in the eastern part of Ernakulam district.

In 2008, the college was first NAAC accredited with B Grade. The college was renamed as T.M. Jacob Memorial Government College Manimalakunnu in 2012 after the demise of Sri. T.M. Jacob. In 2018, the college was NAAC Reaccredited with B Grade.

From 2024 admissions on wards the Four Year Under Graduate Programmes (FYUGP) have been started in our college. Now we are offering UG (Honours – 6 Semesters) and UG (Honours with Research – 8 Semesters)

Our institution has consistently demonstrated academic excellence by securing a position within the top 300 institutions in India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for both 2023 and 2024. Further reinforcing its commitment to quality education and research, the college has achieved an impressive 8 rank in the Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF), marking it as one of the leading institutions in the state.
