Postgraduate Department of commerce is one of the prominent departments in the College. Started in 1984 with the undergraduate Course of B. Com the department has an allotted strength of 40 seats. The Department was upgraded as Post Graduate Department in 2012 by starting the M.Com course. The allotted strength is 12 seats. The first batch of the M.Com was admitted in the academic year 2012-13. This department had a glorious record of accomplishment of 100% victory from the academic year, 2012-13. The cut-off mark for admission for B.com in 2012 was 94%. The Department has been organizing many national and state seminars over the years, which has been appreciated by different stakeholders including industry and media. Many of our faculty have been handling sessions and presenting papers in various national and international seminars. Teaching -Learning process includes student work-groups. Each class is divided into 6 groups. Each group teaches themselves through seminars, organising different competitions, discussions, debates, etc. They also undertake projects in groups. The students of the department are actively involved in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the college like National Service Scheme, Red Ribbon Club, Debate Club, Oratory club, Language club, and College Union. They are very active participants in various inter-collegiate programmes and competitions in other colleges. Many of the students get the opportunity to attend national programmes representing the University. The Alumni of the department are doing well and keep a strong bond with the college. The majority of them are well placed in both government and private sectors. Around 80% of the alumni have completed their higher studies either MBA or M.Com. A number of CA, ICWA, and ACS professionals also strengthen the alumina of the department.
